MillerKnoll Day Trip

This is a rare opportunity to see the new MillerKnoll Archives and the inaugural exhibition Manufacturing Modern. MillerKnoll’s origins trace back to the early 20th-century Modernist movement, which championed purposeful, innovative, and accessible design. Visionaries like Florence Knoll, George Nelson, Eero Saarinen, Ray and Charles Eames, Harry Bertoia, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, and Marcel Breuer were deeply influenced by institutions such as the Bauhaus, Cranbrook Academy of Art, and the Museum of Modern Art. Their groundbreaking philosophies shaped Knoll and Herman Miller’s approach, blending craft with industry to redefine interiors and revolutionize furniture production.

Lyla Catellier, Curator of Public Programs, will discuss research related to the exhibition “Eventually Everything Connects: Mid-Century Modern Design in the US” during the journey to Holland, MI. Visits will be led by Director of Archives and Brand Heritage Amy Auscherman, Senior Archivist Alexa Hagen, and Collections Manager Sarah Wood, you’ll trace the story of how visionary designers revolutionized interiors, blending craft and industry to shape the way we live today.

Participants on the tour will meet for coffee and pastries at the Art Museum before boarding a luxury shuttle (with onboard restroom), gourmet lunch and afternoon refreshments are included (menu selections provided in advance of travel).
